Progress

New May 2010 pics posted below.

Many improvements to the quality of life have been made possible by the generous efforts of saints and friends! Joy's early "Barrels of Blessings" project, with the help of so many, resulted in tons of food and other materials being sent to Hope. The barrels contained food, clothes, toys, school supplies and much, much more.

A book for every child!

Left: Among items in this barrel were enough books for every child.
Right: Toy cars with maps and streets, such as they've never seen before.
Lower left: New clothes are being distributed from one of the barrels.
Lower center: New clothes bring smiles.
Lower right: New foot wear is important, too.

New flip flops, too.

The original dorm, measuring 35' X 45', consisted of 6 bedrooms for all 60 children. The need for a new dormitory was obvious, but lacking the necessary funds it was decided to make some needed improvements. For the short term, the interior of the dorm was painted for the first time. A generator was acquired and the house was wired, light fixtures and outlets were installed and for the first time in their life the children had electricity.

With the happy help of many of the children the first coat of paint ever was applied to the interior of the dormitory.

As an act of love for the children, the saints
raised funds to build a new dormitory,
measuring 30' X 60'. The new dormitory will
be wired for electricity and plumbed for two
interior bathrooms.

The 40 girls at Hope will move into the new
dormitory and the boys will remain in the
original house.
